Band photos record range of Oystercatchers

Band ID’s from photos verify new range  of travelling birds

These 3 Pied Oystercatchers were seen foraging at Mogareeka. The one banded with the yellow flag above its knee has been identified by the ABBBS [Aust.Bird  & Bat banding Scheme ] as being banded more than 5 years ago ,north of Grafton NSW,flew to N.Stradbroke Is. [Qld]& has been in that area until Nov. 2011 when it left and was photographed a month later at Mogareeka. This is the southernmost recorded sighting of this bird. Photo : Liz Allen
