While snorkelling at Horseshoe Bay, Bermagui on Saturday 17 March, Alan Scrymgeour was delighted to find a green anchor worm, sheltering under a large boulder. This large green sausage-like worm lives on sandy or muddy bottoms. At night, it spreads out its proboscis which resembles soft green anchor, to catch the falling detritus on which it feeds. Females use the same method to catch juvenile males which they swallow.
